The South Wales Classic Car club
organises many activities for it's members. Single
day Car Runs are very popular - the first of these
is the' Chilly Willy' run early in the new year. This is
followed a few weeks later by the 'Swallow Run' and in the
Autumn the 'Autumn Colours Run' takes place. All of these
typically cover about 50 miles and usually end up with a
meal in a suitable hostelry. We also have a club stand at
all of the main shows in the South Wales area throughout
the show season.
We also organise more elaborate Multi
day Runs involving accomodation, the largest of
which is the annual visit to Ireland and takes almost a
week. The club has very close associations with Ireland,
particularly the Galway Classic Car Club and we have many
friends there. A few weeks ago also saw 4 members visiting
Ironbridge for the weekend at the invite of a local Car
Club who were holding a static display in the grounds of
the Museum of Iron.
Other events such as the Summer
BBQ involve a short coastal run prior to the event
itself. We are very fortunate that some of our long term
members are a family of Butchers, this results in the very
best selection of home made Sausages, Burgers and kebabs
that one could hope for. This event also is a fine example
of the Chef and catering talents of our Chairman John James
and his wife Janet.
The annual Treasure Hunt
is another popular activity, again ending up with a meal.
The team that scores lowest generally organise the next
- this tends to focus the mind to do well !
Most of our efforts revolve around
organising our Annual Show at Pencoed.
This is normally held in May and is an extremely popular
show to attend. More about the show can been viewed on the
link above.
The club year usually ends with our
annual Dinner and Dance - this is when
various awards are made. More about this event can been
seen via the Fun link above.
