My goodness what weather we experienced
on this years’ Autumn Colours Run. It could not have
been worse (or could it?)!
The day before the run I duly filled up
the XK with petrol checked the oil etc and cleaned the car
in readiness for the event. That evening there were high
winds and rain with more of the same forecast for the following
day – so I decided to use the S Type on the run. I
made the right decision considering the road conditions.
The roads were literally like rivers in places, really appalling.
Also, to mar the proceedings there were two nasty accidents
- the first being just before the coffee stop in the morning
involving Stuart & Molly Powell (Sunbeam Rapier), Gwyn
& Pam Edmunds (Ford Consul) and John & Cheryl Miles
(MGF). The second involving Simon a friend of Dave Housley
(MGB Roadster) on their way home from Brecon, but thankfully
nobody was injured. Apart from the weather and incidents
the event was well organised by Stuart & Molly Powell
with a very good lunch at the Castle Hotel, Llandovery followed
by a cruise on the Brecon Canal and a cream tea. Our sincere
thanks to Stuart & Molly for organising the day. It
was great to see Ken & Margaret Shepherd on the run
after all their travelling around in their camper- home!
