SWCCC Christmas Bash
You’ll be forgiven if you missed the event, but will you be able to forgive yourself?. I’m taking about the SWCCC Christmas bash which took place on the 4th December. It was a cold and frosty night and a Super moon had been arranged to guide us to the venue.
We gathered from the East, the West, North and South of South Wales, all wearing the finest Christmas jumpers imaginable. Although there were some grunts and groans about how much they disliked the sweaters, no one discarded them. Chris gave each and every one a Santa hat to wear, there was no getting away with not wearing it, some , mentioning no names, remodelled theirs, I will say no more.
Then came the real test, dancing. Some came willingly to the floor, some coerced but everyone on the dance floor found themselves having a great time..
The Wye Valley Dance Group gave us a great demonstration and then put us through our paces, then it was our turn. we had some fun in a round dance, skipping from partner to partner, I was impressed that we didn’t all crash into each other and remained upright.
Club awards were made and received.
Awards went to Billy Picton as the SWCCC, Enthusiast of the Year.. Peter Backhouse was awarded SWCCC Clubman of the year, finally Malcolm Selley was awarded for Outstanding Dedication to SWCCC. All the awards well deserved by the recipients.
The buffet was brilliant and no one went away hungry, eating the cheesecake, without a spoon or fork was a bit of a challenge but nothing keeps me from a slice of one of my favourite desserts.
Then the highlight of the evening, the raffle. Chris had masterfully arranged the raffle so that nobody went away without a prize.
All too soon the evening came to a close and we all slowly drifted back to our cars.
All that remains is to say a huge Thank You to the committee for arranging the evening, to Chris for a brilliant raffle and the Santa hats, the club for hosting us and to all the members that came along and made it a truly memorable evening.
